AIRASIA Philippines said its operations will continue in the country despite reports it had been grounded at government-owned airports due to unpaid fees.
Philippines media had earlier reported that the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) had issued a cease-and-desist order to the airline to halt operations at its airports over an outstanding bill of PHP270mil (RM17.42mil).
However, media reports, including from Inquirer.net, now say the low-cost carrier has assured that all flights across its network will remain operational.
“AirAsia Philippines assures the travelling public that it remains fully operational, with flights and services continuing as scheduled across its network, subject to normal operational considerations such as weather and other standard factors affecting airline operations,” AirAsia said in a statement.
AirAsia did not directly address the issue of the amount owed to the CAAP.
CAAP records show AirAsia had accumulated the fees in air navigation, landing, parking and passenger service charges from 2021 to May 2026. The figure excludes pending penalties and interest.
