KUALA LUMPUR: MSCI has dropped six stocks from the MSCI Malaysia Index following its latest review.

In a statement, the index provider said Axiata Group Bhd, YTL Corp Bhd, Petronas Dagangan Bhd, and Nestlé (Malaysia) Bhd have been removed from the list while QL Resources Bhd and MR DIY Group Bhd have been relegated to the MSCI Malaysia Small Cap Index.

Meanwhile, AirAsia X Bhd and KLCC Property Holdings Bhd will be added to the Malaysia Small Cap Index, while Nationgate Holdings Bhd, Sunway Healthcare Holdings Bhd and UEM Sunrise Bhd have been deleted from the list.

The MSCI Malaysia Index is designed to measure the performance of the large and mid cap segments of the Malaysian market. The index covers about 85% of the Malaysian equity universe. The small-cap index, meanwhile, covers about 14% of the Malaysian equity universe.

MSCI said all changes to the indices will be effective at the close of May 29. The next review has been scheduled for August 12.
