SUBANG JAYA: Malaysia’s digital landscape continues to advance with confidence and optimism amid ongoing global uncertainties, said Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo.
He said the global digital landscape is shifting rapidly as the world faces economic uncertainty, geopolitical tensions, rapid technological change, and industries being reshaped faster than ever before.
"Malaysia is now becoming a place where technology is being built, where partnerships are being formed, and where ideas are being transformed into real opportunities.
"Digital transformation today is no longer simply about digitising services or increasing connectivity. It is about whether countries are capable of building, adopting, and governing the technologies that will shape their future,” said Gobind in his officiating remarks at the FutureX Venture Fest 2026, here today.
FutureX Ventures Fest, organised by Sunway iLabs, brings together 200 selected leaders from startups, investors, government, and corporates to explore the future of artificial intelligence (AI) and deep tech in Southeast Asia, while strengthening Malaysia’s position as a regional innovation hub.
The minister also said Malaysia remains firmly committed to its ambition of becoming an AI nation by 2030.
"This is a commitment to ensure Malaysia is not just consuming technology, but helping to build, shape, and lead it.
"At the same time, we are pushing forward the National AI Action Plan 2026-2030, as a real national effort to build talent, strengthen infrastructure, grow innovation, and create opportunities for Malaysians,” he said.
Gobind said Malaysia is strategically positioned at the heart of ASEAN, as one of the world’s fastest-growing digital regions, offering access to a market of more than 680 million people.
"Malaysia is well-positioned at the centre of it (ASEAN) - ready to connect global innovation with Southeast Asia’s next wave of growth,” he added. - Bernama
