Uzma, Mara formalise strategic collaboration to boost industry, talent development

KUALA LUMPUR: Uzma Bhd has formed a strategic collaboration with Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) to establish a platform for both parties to work together across two key areas, namely business collaboration and capability development.

The strategic collaboration was formalised through the exchange of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) held in conjunction with the Majlis Gala Persada MARA in celebration of MARA's 60th anniversary at the World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur.

The MoU will be effective for a period of three years from May 3, 2026, unless extended by mutual agreement of the parties.

Uzma group chief executive officer Datuk Kamarul Redzuan Muhamed emphasised on stronger alignment between industry and institutions to ensure talent development remains relevant, practical and future ready.

"As we move forward under our Second Five Year Plan, partnerships like this will be important in strengthening the talent pipeline, particularly through industry-aligned training and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) pathways, while supporting vendor development, and building long-term depth in industries that matter to the country, particularly across oil and gas as well as renewable energy," he said in a statement today.

Under business collaboration, both parties will explore opportunities in renewable energy initiatives, aerospace and defence maintenance, repair and overhaul, marine engineering solutions for the oil and gas sector, as well as strategic investment opportunities aligned with energy transition and technology development.

Kamarul Redzuan also said that in advancing renewable energy and energy transition initiatives, Uzma's new energy arm is well positioned to support MARA as a strategic partner, with capabilities spanning technical feasibility, commercial structuring and long-term asset performance optimisation.

"Under capability development, the collaboration will focus on strengthening talent pipelines through the development and delivery of academic and executive programmes via Institusi Pendidikan MARA, including areas such as leadership and artificial intelligence, alongside structured industrial training and apprenticeship pathways," he added.

This includes creating opportunities for MARA graduates, particularly from TVET institutions, to gain practical exposure aligned with real operational requirements, as well as supporting the development and empowerment of bumiputera vendors within the broader energy and technology value chain. - Bernama
