Jentayu unit gets Sabah approval for higher hydro tariff


PETALING JAYA: Jentayu Sustainables Bhd's 70% owned subsidiary Oriole Hydro Padas Sdn Bhd (OHP) has received a letter from Energy Commission of Sabah stating that Sabah Energy Council had approved the provisional tariff increase the Oriole Hydro project from 31.5 sen/kWh to 32.04 sen/kWh.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, Jentayu added the adjustment is subject to the supplementary power purchase agreement.

Furthermore, the financial close date has been extended by six months to Oct 31, 2026.

Subsequently, the scheduled commercial operation date has been revised to the end of April, 2030.

OHP is developing a run-of-river hydroelectric power plant project in the Hulu Sungai Padas in the Sipitang Forest Reserve, in Sipitang, Sabah, with a capacity of 162MW.
