Cape EMS expands into AI, EV and energy interconnect solutions

KUALA LUMPUR: Cape EMS Bhd has established GrandCape (M) Sdn Bhd via a joint venture with New Grand Tech (HK) Ltd to expand into interconnect solutions for AI data centres (AIDC), electric vehicles (EVs) and battery energy storage systems (BESS).

In a statement, the group said GrandCape will focus on the manufacturing and engineering of flexible flat cables (FFC), advanced electronic, AIDC and BESS interconnect solutions.

Cape EMS said the initiative forms part of its CEB 2.0 strategy to move beyond assembly into higher-value engineering and system integration.

Cape EMS said GrandCape is already operational, with four FFC production machines running at its Senai facility, allowing for a quicker ramp-up without significant capital expenditure.

Managing director and group CEO Christina Tee Kim Chin said the expansion positions the group within the supply chain supporting AI infrastructure and energy systems.

“This initiative represents a strategic evolution of our business—moving beyond traditional manufacturing into high-value interconnect and system integration solutions supporting both AI infrastructure and energy systems,” she said.

She added that the move also aligns with demand for connectivity solutions across AI workloads, EV mobility and energy storage
