Permodalan Nasional Bhd, successfully hosted the inaugural Jelajah Warisan KL at Stadium Merdeka, as part of a city-wide series designed to strengthen public connection to Kuala Lumpur’s cultural and historical core.

According to a statement by PNBMV, the initiative is part of the broader Warisan Kuala Lumpur national rejuvenation agenda, bringing together government bodies, GLCs, GLICs, heritage partners, and local communities to deepen understanding of KL’s identity while advancing the values of Ekonomi Madani.

Merdeka 118 serves as the first destination in the Jelajah Warisan KL series. Through immersive site walkthroughs, the programme reconnects stakeholders with the Warisan KL focus zones, presenting their historical and cultural significance, conservation milestones, the precinct’s ongoing transformation, its role in shaping community life, tourism, and identity.

The on-ground Jelajah Warisan KL approach ensures that heritage is not merely observed but is experienced, felt, and owned by the people entrusted with sustaining it.

Datuk Izwan Ibrahim, CEO of PNBMV, said: “Jelajah Warisan KL is more than a guided walk but is an invitation for partners and communities to rediscover, reconnect, and embrace the spaces that define our capital’s story. By experiencing these heritage sites together, we cultivate a shared sense of pride and responsibility. This collective ownership is vital to sustaining the legacy of the Merdeka 118 precinct and ensuring its relevance for generations to come.”

He added that the initiative also highlights how KL’s historic landmarks such as Stadium Merdeka can coexist harmoniously with modern developments like Menara Merdeka 118, reflecting a thoughtful blend of past and future.
