Solid exports to lift growth

TA Research maintained its 2026 export growth forecast at 4.6% year-on-year, with imports projected to rise 6.2%.

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia’s export outlook is set to remain supportive of economic growth in 2026, underpinned by resilient external demand and a sustained trade surplus, although rising global uncertainties and currency dynamics may temper momentum.

TA Research said the January to February trade performance signalled a firm start to the year, noting that the data offered an encouraging start to the first quarter of financial year 2026 (1Q26) and reinforced the strong momentum observed at the tail end of 4Q25.
