GDB bags RM115.5mil new water treatment plant project in Sarawak

KUALA LUMPUR: Construction services firm GDB Holdings Bhd via its wholly-owed subsidiary GDB Infra Sdn Bhd has secured a RM115.5mil contract for the new water treatment plant in Song District, Sarawak.

In a statement, the group said it was appointed by Pembinaan JBS Sdn Bhd as a sub-contractor to undertake the construction, supply, delivery, installation, testing, and commissioning of the new facility.

The project will commence in March 2026 and is scheduled for completion within three years.

The scope of works includes surveying, site clearing, pipe works, rainwater intake and water treatment plant facilities, mechanical and electrical services, alongside turnkey elements.

In tandem with the group's expansion, the Sarawak Regional Office in Kuching is now operational to provide localised project management and technical support. GDB is also establishing its Sabah Regional Office in Kota Kinabalu, which is expected to commence by June 2026.

"To support our growing project pipeline and streamline operations across East Malaysia, we are establishing regional offices that will strengthen local project management and ensure timely, efficient delivery," said executive director and acting group managing director Andy Lai Wee Young.

The latest contract win bolsters GDB’s outstanding order book to RM785.7mil and provides the group with earnings visibility through to 2029.
