NexG Bina says 16 bank accounts frozen by police AMLA unit

PETALING JAYA: Nexg Bina Bhd said 16 bank accounts belonging to the company and its subsidiaries with RHB Bank Bhd have been frozen since mid-November 2025 by the anti-money laundering unit (AMLA) of the Royal Malaysian Police.

“The company did not receive any formal freezing order and only became aware of the situation after it was unable to proceed with certain operating payments,” NexG Bina said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia.

The group said its board is not aware of any wrongdoing and has been seeking clarification from the authorities regarding the matter.

“To date, the company has not been informed of any specific findings or particulars relating to alleged non-compliance or illegal money laundering activities involving the company,” it said.

NexG Bina said bank statements of all affected accounts have been submitted to the relevant authorities, adding that no further inquiries have been initiated and no additional documents have been requested so far.

The group said it has submitted several written appeals requesting the authorities to unfreeze the accounts or allow conditional operational access, but has yet to receive a formal response.

The board said the freezing of the accounts did not have any operational impact on the group when it was first informed of the matter during a board meeting in February 2026.

“However, the board expects that the continuation of the said freezing order may have an impact on the financial and operational aspects of the group,” it said.

“At this stage, the board is unable to ascertain the full financial and operational impact and the company may be exposed to potential lawsuits and claims for breach of contract if the company does not have sufficient funds to make payment and fulfil its ongoing commitments.

“The company may also be unable to proceed with ongoing development projects which require a bigger quantum of funds,” it added.

NexG Bina said that it is currently relying on collections from its manufacturing division to meet fixed expenditures and manufacturing overheads.

“At this juncture, the company is seeking legal advice on the courses of action that can be taken.”
