Malakoff procures more gas turbines

PETALING JAYA: Malakoff Corp Bhd has signed a second reservation agreement with Mitsubishi Power Ltd for the procurement of two additional state-of-the-art M701JAC gas turbines and gas turbine generators.

It announced that the units are intended for deployment at a new combined-cycle power plant in the northern region, with an expected generation capacity of 1,400MW.

The M701JAC is Mitsubishi Power’s latest air-cooled gas turbine, designed for high thermal efficiency, fuel flexibility and lower emissions through improved combustion technology.

The new reservation came following the October 2025 reservation of two similar units for Malakoff’s recent new 1,400MW gas-fired power plant in the southern region.

“Securing four M701JAC gas turbines enhances our ability to develop new high-efficiency combined-cycle power plants,” said group CEO Syahrunizam Tan Sri Samsudin.
