Malakoff names Wan Zulkiflee as chairman

PETALING JAYA: Malakoff Corp Bhd expects improved performance for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2026 (FY26), supported by the commencement of the Prai CCGT operational extension in the second quarter of 2026.

It will also benefit from the phased recovery of coal unloading facilities at the Tanjung Bin Complex jetty.

In the fourth quarter ended Dec 31, 2025 (4Q25), Malakoff posted a net loss of RM29mil compared with a net profit of RM26mil in the corresponding quarter last year. It recorded a loss per share of 0.59 sen against an earnings per share of 0.53 sen previously.

Quarterly revenue fell 32% to RM1.5bil from RM2.2bil a year earlier.

For the full year, Malakoff posted a net profit of RM96.1mil on revenue of RM7.2bil.

Separately, Malakoff has appointed former Petroliam Nasional Bhd president and group chief executive officer Tan Sri Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariffin, 66, as its new independent non-executive chairman effective March 1, 2026.

He succeeds Tan Sri Che Khalib Mohamad Noh, 61, who resigned to pursue other interests. He currently serves as chairman of Nestle (M) Bhd, Gas Malaysia Bhd and DRB-Hicom Bhd.

Wan Zulkiflee holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical) from the University of Adelaide, South Australia, and has completed the Senior Management Program at INSEAD as well as the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School. He is an Honorary Fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers, United Kingdom.
