KUALA LUMPUR: Nestlé Malaysia and MTT Shipping (MTTS) have marked the deployment of container vessel MTT Bintangor with a ship blessing ceremony at Westports, Pulau Indah, Port Klang.

The vessel, with a capacity of 1,836 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU), supports domestic and Asean trade routes and has been carrying Nestlé cargo through an appointed freight forwarder for nearly a decade.

As Malaysia’s leading fast-moving consumer goods company, Nestlé Malaysia exports Halal-certified, made-in-Malaysia products across the region, with Asean markets accounting for about one-third of total export sales.

The deployment strengthens supply reliability, shortens delivery lead times and enhances service to Sabah and Sarawak.

The vessel is equipped to transport temperature-sensitive cargo, supporting Nestlé’s ice cream and confectionery products.

Nestlé Malaysia chief executive officer Juan Aranols said the deployment enhances supply chain robustness and regional connectivity.

“MTT Bintangor plays an important role in enhancing the robustness and flexibility of our supply chain, supporting our ability to serve consumers consistently across Malaysia, including East Malaysia, while strengthening regional connectivity. Our relationship with MTTS reflects a shared focus on operational excellence, long-term resilience and sustainable growth in logistics.”

MTTS group executive chairman Datuk Seri Kenny Ong said the vessel reflects the company’s commitment to operational excellence and sustainable maritime operations.

Both companies said sustainability remains a shared priority, with Nestlé advancing its net-zero roadmap and MTTS targeting carbon neutrality by 2050.
