EGIB breaks ground on Thai factory

PETALING JAYA: EG Industries Bhd (EGIB) has undertaken a ground-breaking ceremony for its new manufacturing facility at 304 Industrial Park in Prachinburi, Thailand, undertaken by its wholly-owned subsidiary, SMT Industries Co Ltd.

In a statement, EGIB said the new facility is being developed following its proposed acquisition of an industrial land parcel in Prachinburi.

It said this was undertaken in response to requests from new US-based customers, as well as anticipated demand from the local telecommunications data centre sector, for the group to establish additional manufacturing capacity in Thailand to support the production of electricity storage components, electric vehicle-related products and data centre applications.

“The factory is also designed to meet stringent customer-specific requirements, including operational segregation and confidentiality.”
