JD to spend over US$180mil on worker bonus

Chinese e-commerce firm JD said on Tuesday it plans to spend more than 1.3 billion yuan (around $180 million) during the nine-day Chinese New Year holiday in providing enhanced pay and benefits for frontline staff.

According to a JD statement, the company plans to offer overtime pay, "big red envelopes" or holiday bonuses, and family reunion subsidies to ensure extra support for workers on duty over the holiday period.

The measures, which the company says go beyond China's statutory minimum standards for holiday pay and welfare, will apply to delivery couriers, full-time riders, customer service personnel and retail store employees. - China Daily/ANN
