Public Bank marks 60 years of growth and trust

PETALING JAYA: Public Bank Bhd (PBB) marked its Diamond Jubilee with a drone light show and projection mapping at its headquarters, Menara Public Bank, which the bank said symbolises its commitment to “innovation while honouring six decades of unwavering legacy.”

Its managing director and chief executive officer Tan Sri Tay Ah Lek said the milestone reflects both the bank’s heritage and its forward-looking ambitions.

“This celebration signifies that while we are rooted in tradition, we are a bank that is agile and ready to embrace the future,” he noted in a statement in conjunction with the bank’s 60-year celebration.

“Our mission for the next decade is clear, to achieve greater heights, to drive sustainable growth, become the partners for the next generation of entrepreneurs, and continue setting the benchmark for banking stability and excellence in the region.

PBB said the aerial showcase, featuring 600 synchronised drones, traced its six-decade journey and highlighted the enduring trust placed in the bank by generations of customers.

With the theme “growth and trust,” PBB said the event marked its evolution into one of Malaysia’s most enduring financial institutions.

“It was a tribute to a 60-year partnership with millions of Malaysians and a reaffirmation of Public Bank’s enduring commitment to helping individuals, families and businesses grow,” it added.

Founded in 1966 by the late Tan Sri Teh Hong Piow, PBB has grown from a humble local bank to one of Southeast Asia’s largest banks.

PBB shares last traded at RM4.87, giving it a market capitalisation of RM94.53bil.
