KUALA LUMPUR: AirAsia X Bhd
(AAX) will resume direct flights between Malaysia and Busan, South Korea’s largest coastal city, reinforcing its position as the only Malaysian airline offering nonstop connectivity between the two destinations.
In a statement, the carrier said the service is scheduled to commence on June 17, 2026, operating four times weekly.
The Busan route will be AAX’s 21st destination and its second in South Korea, supporting efforts to stimulate new travel demand while strengthening the airline’s market presence in North Asia.
“We’re thrilled to bring back this beloved route and proud to be the only airline in Malaysia operating direct flights from Kuala Lumpur to Busan, a city of many wonders.
“AAX’s focus has always been on making long-haul travel more accessible and resuming this route reflects our disciplined approach to growing our network whilst enabling more travellers to enjoy new travel experiences and adventures,” CEO Benyamin Ismail said.
He added that building on its existing route to Seoul, the addition of Busan further strengthens the airline’s footprint in South Korea as it continues to expand across North Asia, which remains its strongest growth region.
Benyamin said the airline is also looking forward to welcoming travellers from Busan to Malaysia, particularly in conjunction with Visit Malaysia 2026.
To mark the return of the route, AAX is offering promotional all-in one-way fares between Kuala Lumpur and Busan from RM299 for economy class and RM999 for its Premium Flatbed.
The promotion is available from now until Jan 18, 2026, for travel between June 17 and Nov 30, 2026.
