KUALA LUMPUR: Seven states recorded an increase in total trade worth RM229.4bil in November 2025, while four states posted higher levels of total trade, exports and imports, according to the Statistics Department (DOSM).
Malaysia’s total trade in November 2025 stood at RM263.9bil, with exports amounting to RM135.0bil and imports at RM128.9bil.
DOSM said exports rose RM8.9bil, or 7.0%, year-on-year (y-o-y), driven mainly by stronger shipments from Pulau Pinang, which increased by RM6.9bil, and Johor, up RM5.2bil.
Perak also recorded higher exports, rising RM699.1mil, followed by Sabah with an increase of RM36.3mil and Negeri Sembilan, up RM17.7mil.
However, several states saw a contraction in exports during the month.
Selangor recorded a decline of RM1.4bil, while Sarawak’s exports fell RM969.8 mil and Pahang’s dropped RM658.8mil.
Exports also declined in Labuan by RM445.4mil, Kuala Lumpur by RM348.0mil, Kedah by RM272.5mil, Kelantan by RM266.2mil, Terengganu by RM66.9mil, Perlis by RM23.9mil and Melaka by RM4.5mil.
Pulau Pinang remained the top exporter, contributing 39.2%, followed by Johor at 21.1%, Selangor at 15.2%, Sarawak at 6.7% and Kuala Lumpur at 3.3%.
At the same time, DOSM said imports in November 2025 rose RM17.6bil, or 15.8%, compared with the same month in 2024.
The increase was driven by higher imports in Pulau Pinang, which climbed RM9.4bil, Selangor, up RM5.0bil, and Kuala Lumpur, which rose RM3.2bil.
Johor also recorded an increase of RM707.8mil, followed by Perak at RM681.3mil, Melaka at RM398.3mil and Sabah at RM165.2mil.
However, imports fell in several states, led by Negeri Sembilan with a decline of RM368.3mil, followed by Labuan at RM266.8mil, Sarawak at RM193.7mil and Pahang at RM140.7mil, with smaller drops recorded in Kelantan, Perlis, Kedah and Terengganu.
Pulau Pinang dominated Malaysia’s imports with a 28.6% share, followed by Selangor at 26.2%, Johor at 18.3%, Kuala Lumpur at 9.6% and Kedah at 4.9%.
