Evergreen Max Cash secures four new pawnbroking licences from KPKT

KUALA LUMPUR: Evergreen Max Cash Capital Bhd (EMCC) has secured approval from the Housing and Local Government Ministry (KPKT) for four new pawnbroking licences, expanding its network and geographic footprint to support earnings growth.

In a statement, the pawnbroking service provider said the approvals cover two outlets in Pahang, and one each in Kuala Lumpur and Perak.

As at today, EMCC operates 98 outlets, comprising 29 conventional pawnshops and 69 Islamic pawnshops, across Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Perak and Terengganu.

The four newly approved outlets are expected to begin operations in the second quarter of 2026, lifting the group’s total outlet count to over 100.

“This milestone is significant to the group given that the group was only listed on Bursa Malaysia in September 2023, at which time we operated only 22 outlets.

“Within less than three years, EMCC has since expanded its outlet network by more than fourfold, underscoring the scalability of our business model and our commitment towards our expansion strategy,” executive director and group managing director Datuk Low Kok Chuan said.

He said the approvals reflect KPKT’s support for the pawnbroking industry, which provides short-term liquidity for individuals with limited access to conventional credit, and signal confidence in EMCC’s operational and regulatory standards.
