CS Genesis and CS Triumph
KUALA LUMPUR: OMS Group, a leading provider of subsea digital infrastructure solutions, today achieved another major milestone with the keel laying ceremony for its two new state-of-the-art cable-laying vessels, CS Genesis and CS Triumph, at the Pacific Shipbuilding JSC shipyard in Haiphong, Vietnam.
The ceremony signifies the formal commencement of hull assembly — a key phase in ship construction — for the first two vessels under OMS Group’s strategic fleet expansion programme. Developed in collaboration with Royal IHC, a global leader in maritime technology, these vessels form the foundation of OMS Group’s new G (GREAT)-Class fleet.
“This moment symbolizes progress — the physical rise of our future fleet,” said Datuk Lim Soon Foo, Founder and Chairman of OMS Group. “CS Genesis and CS Triumph represent our commitment to innovation, operational independence, and global resilience in subsea connectivity. As subsea cables continue to carry over 95% of the world’s data, these vessels will be critical to strengthening the backbone of international digital infrastructure.”
With demand for advanced submarine cable systems accelerating across Asia–Pacific and beyond, OMS Group is investing in assets designed to deliver enhanced capability and sustainability across the full lifecycle of installation and maintenance operations.
Each vessel is engineered to support increasingly complex subsea projects, featuring:
• 6,500-tonne cable tank capacity
• Plough capability up to 3.3m burial depth
• Energy Storage Systems (ESS) Optimises energy use through advanced storage solutions
• Advanced automation and digital monitoring
• Optimised hull design for superior fuel efficiency and reduced emissions
“Today’s keel laying is a proud moment for OMS Group and for the region,” said Ronnie Lim, Group Chief Executive Officer of OMS Group.
“These vessels will allow us to better serve hyperscalers, carriers, and governments as digital infrastructure demand continues to surge. We are not just building ships — we are building the future of connectivity.”
The G-Class fleet reflects OMS Group’s strategic direction — expanding vertically into infrastructure ownership while growing its capabilities in marine installation, repair, cable landing stations, and terrestrial backhaul networks.
“CS Genesis and CS Triumph mark a new beginning for our industry,” added Emmanuel Delanoue, Deputy Group CEO.
“Beyond enhancing subsea capability, these vessels embody our commitment to ESG principles; integrating hybrid-ready energy solutions, reduced-emission operations, and advanced automation to improve safety and efficiency. With these next-generation assets, we are driving the industry toward more sustainable operations while strengthening the critical infrastructure that keeps the world connected.”
CS Genesis and CS Triumph are scheduled for delivery in 2027, entering service to support the growing global subsea cable pipeline and strengthening regional network resilience.
