Agricommodity contributes 12.5% to exports

KUALA LUMPUR: The agricommodity sector contributed RM165bil or 12.5% to the country’s total exports from January to October 2025.

Deputy Minister of Plantation and Commodities Datuk Chan Foong Hin said the sector also contributed RM66.1bil or 5.2% to the gross domestic product as of September 2025.

Chan said the ministry’s main focus at the moment is to assist smallholders in the replanting programme for old or unproductive oil palm trees.

“Based on Budget 2026, the ministry has allocated a total of RM50mil for the implementation of the Easy Financing Scheme for Replanting Oil Palm Smallholders 2.0,” he said during the winding up session of the Supply (Budget) Bill 2026 for the ministry at the Dewan Negara. — Bernama
