Advancecon unit wins second adjudication in ECRL payment dispute

KUALA LUMPUR: Advancecon Holdings Bhd’s wholly owned unit, Advancecon Infra Sdn Bhd (AISB), has secured another favourable adjudication decision against China Communications Construction (ECRL) Sdn Bhd (CCC).

The adjudicator, acting under Sections 7 and 8 of the Construction Industry Payment and Adjudication Act 2012, ordered CCC to pay RM3.33 million to AISB, with interest at five per cent per annum from Sept 4, 2025, until full settlement.

Advancecon said CCC must also pay RM100,000 in adjudication costs, bear all adjudicator and Asian International Arbitration Centre fees, and reimburse AISB for sums advanced during the process.

The decision follows an earlier ruling announced on Oct 7, 2025, in which AISB secured about RM7.04 million in a separate ECRL-related payment dispute.

Advancecon group chief executive officer Datuk Phum Ang Kia said the latest outcome underscored the strength of its claims and the value of strong governance in project execution.

"Although the impact on the 2025 financial year is not material, both outcomes affirm our entitlement to timely payment for completed work,” he said.

Advancecon said the two rulings affirm AISB’s contractual position and reinforce the group’s commitment to ensuring that completed works under major national infrastructure projects are properly recognised and compensated.

The company said it will monitor post-adjudication developments and make further announcements as required under Bursa Malaysia Securities Bhd’s listing rules. - Bernama
