PETALING JAYA: YTL Corp Bhd’s executive chairman Tan Sri Sir Francis Yeoh has been awarded the Asean Personality of the Year 2025 – Lifetime Achievement Award, at the 26th Asian Business Awards in London.

The Asean Lifetime Achievement Award recognises Yeoh’s decades of transformational leadership at YTL Corp, which saw the group shaping global infrastructure, pioneering sustainability, redefining purpose-driven enterprise and setting benchmarks across continents, said the the award’s organiser United Kingdom-based Asian Media Group.

“This honour reflects both his remarkable achievements and his enduring legacy of visionary excellence. The strong attendance of representatives from various Asean embassies added dignity and cultural diversity to the award ceremony,” Asian Media Group said.

Despite a busy schedule, Yeoh flew to London to receive this award last week.

One of the highlights of event was a talk on leadership given by Yeoh.

The talk was moderated by British radio and television presenter Nihal Arthanayake.

The evening was graced by UK’s Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government Steve Reed.

Reed expressed his admiration of Yeoh and acknowledged the latter’s outstanding contributions to business, sustainability, and ties between Malaysia and Britain.

This year’s awards also marked the first-ever Asean Award in the 26-year history of the Asian Business Awards, symbolising the growing influence and partnership of Asean nations in Britain, Asia Media Group said in its statement.

Yeoh was nominated for the award by Datuk S.K. Lingam who represented the Asean UK Business Forum and Malaysia Link UK.

Yeoh said during the awards event that his late father, who was an intensely hardworking man, encouraged him not to follow in his footsteps but to think differently.
