KUALA LUMPUR: Nestlé Malaysia is proactively strengthening its preparedness efforts ahead of the year-end monsoon season through its annual Nationwide Flood Aid Relief initiative.

In collaboration with the Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) and Yayasan Food Bank Malaysia (YFBM), the company has pre-packed and mobilised essential supplies to enable swift deployment when floods occur.

In a statement, Nestlé Malaysia said the initiative aims to assist up to 6,000 families in flood-prone areas across the country, ensuring that help reaches those affected without delay.

Over 200 Nestlé employee volunteers, together with members of the Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) and student volunteers from Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM), packed 5,500 boxes of essential food and household items.

Nestlé Malaysia said the supplies will be distributed to temporary relief centres and families affected by floods nationwide to help meet their basic needs during the monsoon season.

Nestlé Malaysia, together with MRC and YFBM, is strengthening community resilience during the monsoon season through food aid, flood preparedness, and recovery support. The company’s total contribution, in-kind and financial, is valued at about RM2.3mil. This support covers food provision, flood preparedness measures and recovery assistance for families and communities across the country.

“At Nestlé Malaysia, we believe in supporting communities through our products as well as through our involvement to create a positive societal impact. The monsoon season is a difficult time for many families, specifically in the more flood-exposed regions. Through our long-standing partnership with the MRC, we are able to deliver timely assistance to those affected.

“We are also scaling up our efforts together with Yayasan Food Bank Malaysia to support the resiliency of communities and villages in remote and often isolated areas like the more remote East Coast islands,” Nestlé Malaysia chief executive officer Juan Aranols said.

Meanwhile, MRC national chairperson Tan Sri Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz Almarhum Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah said: “Our collaboration with Nestlé Malaysia has grown from strength to strength, anchored by a shared mission to assist those affected by natural disasters. Nestlé’s consistent support enhances our capacity to respond more effectively during floods, allowing us to extend critical aid to more communities nationwide.”

The Nationwide Flood Aid Relief initiative is part of Nestlé Sayang Komuniti, a platform that mobilises the company’s resources and enables employees to actively support community and environmental causes. Through ongoing collaboration with local communities and partners, Nestlé Malaysia continues to uphold its commitment to making a positive impact on society.
