CIMB chairman named TNG Digital director

PETALING JAYA: TNG Digital Sdn Bhd, the operator of TNG eWallet, has announced the appointment of Datuk Syed Zaid Albar as its chairman and non-independent non-executive director, effective Oct 17, 2025.

In a statement, TNG Digital noted that Syed Zaid is a senior lawyer with experience across a broad range of practice areas, with a strong focus on financial services and corporate advisory.

Syed Zaid stepped away from legal practice in 2018 to assume the role of executive chairman of the Securities Commission (SC) until mid-2022.

He played a key role in strengthening the governance, regulatory oversight and the development of the capital markets, both domestically and internationally.

Syed Zaid currently serves as chairman of CIMB Group Holdings Bhd, CIMB Bank Bhd and Touch ‘n Go Sdn Bhd.
