HONG KONG/SHANGHAI: China stocks fell sharply in volatile trade on Monday as a renewed trade war between Washington and Beijing hit risk appetite and spurred profit-taking, pulling shares from their decade highs.
The blue-chip CSI300 Index declined 1.8% and the Shanghai Composite was down 1.3% by lunch break. In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng benchmark slumped 3.5% and the Hang Seng Tech index lost 4.5%.
