New CEO appointed for Eq8 Capital


PETALING JAYA: Eq8 Capital Sdn Bhd, the manager of the Eq8 Dow Jones Islamic Market Malaysia Titans 25 ETF, has appointed Syed Umar Abdul Rahman Alhadad as its new chief executive (CEO) effective yesterday.

The 44-year-old Syed Umar, who was formerly the acting CEO of the fund manager, is a certified financial planner who also holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Electronics, majoring in Telecommunications.

Eq8 Capital is also the manager of four other ETFs - Eq8 MSCI Malaysia Islamic Dividend ETF, Eq8 MSCI SEA Islamic Dividend ETF, Eq8 Dow Jones US Titans 50 ETF and Eq8 FTSE Malaysia Enhanced Dividend WAQF ETF.

Syed Umar has also been head of strategic planning and risk at Kenanga Investors Bhd, among others.
