Lotte Chemical expects global business environment to remain volatile

PETALING JAYA: Lotte Chemical Titan Holding Bhd expects the global business environment to remain volatile in the near future.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the chemical company said the ongoing geopolitical tensions, such as the Russia-Ukraine war and unrest in the Middle East, continue to pose risks.

For its second quarter ended June 30, 2025, Lotte’s net loss narrowed to RM173.09mil from a net loss of RM248.89mil in the previous corresponding period, while revenue dipped to RM1.44bil from RM1.78bil a year earlier.

Lotte said the lower losses were primarily attributable to margin improvement.

“The reduction in loss before tax was further contributed by the lower distribution and administrative expenses, along with a one-off insurance claim in respect of a business interruption that happened in the year 2022,” said the company.

For the six-month period ending June 30, 2025, Lotte’s net loss narrowed to RM298.76mil from RM426.91mil in the previous corresponding period, while revenue dipped to RM2.93bil from RM3.7bil previously.
