Eco-Shop charts record profit, revenue in FY25

KUALA LUMPUR: Underpinned by the growing number of stores and consumer demand for value, Eco-Shop Marketing Bhd registered record top- and bottomlines in its financial year ended May 31, 2025.

During the 12-month period, the budget household retailer reported net profit of RM204.32mil on revenue of RM2.79bil, as compared to net profit of RM177.28mil and revenue of RM2.4bil.

Earnings per share rose to 3.79 sen from 3.29 sen in the previous year.

According to the group, the improved revenue was owing to the addition of 74 new stores during the year while profit grew in tandem despite higher operating costs from the expanded store network and the implementation of minimum wage policies.

CEO Jessica Ng is optimistic over the company's long-term growth potential, noting that Malaysia's value retail segment remains significantly underpenetrated compared to more mature markets such as Japan, Canada and the US.

She said same-store sales growth (SSSG) softened due to the mid-April price adjustment as consumers take time to adapt to the new pricing.

"In the meantime, we are rolling out targeted marketing campaigns to boost footfall. Despite a setback in SSSG, we anticipate margins and performance to remain healthy or continue to improve going forward."

In the fourth quarter of the financial year alone, Eco-Shop recorded a net profit of RM49.41mil, a drop from RM63.27mil in the year-ago quarter, while revenue rose to RM688.98mil from RM640.67mil.

The company declared an interim dividend of one sen per share with entitlement date on Aug 12, 2025, to be paid on Aug 26, 2025.
