Perdana Petroleum secures vessel charter job

The oil and gas company expects the contract to contribute positively to its earnings for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2025 (FY25) to FY28.

PETALING JAYA: Perdana Petroleum Bhd’s wholly-owned subsidiary Perdana Nautika Sdn Bhd has secured a charter contract from PTTEP Sabah Oil Ltd for an anchor handling tug and supply (AHTS) vessel.

The contract is for a firm duration of three years, with an option to extend for another three years.

“The estimated contract value cannot be determined at this time, as it will vary based on the location to which the vessel is assigned throughout the contract period,” Perdana Petroleum said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia.

However, the oil and gas company expects the contract to contribute positively to its earnings for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2025 (FY25) to FY28.

The charter will commence on the vessel’s on-hire certificate date – the date when the vessel is officially handed over from the owner to the charterer.

Perdana Petroleum said it will provide the vessel with crew and equipment to perform a continuous 24-hour service for the purpose of assisting and/or servicing drilling rigs, offshore installations, derrick barges, towing and anchor jobs.

In its first quarter ended March 31, 2025, Perdana Petroleum reported a net loss of RM18.33mil compared with a net profit of RM6.07mil in the previous corresponding period, while revenue plunged to RM37.56mil from RM99.22mil a year earlier.

In a filing on its first-quarter performance, Perdana Petroleum said the offshore support vessel industry is currently experiencing a constrained vessel supply, with limited newbuilds entering the market due to financing challenges, partly influenced by environmental, social and governance-related restrictions.

“But we remain cautiously optimistic in the face of ongoing geopolitical uncertainties, including tariff tensions, Middle East conflicts and currency fluctuations,” it said.
