Azmy Mahbot is UEM Sunrise chief business officer


PETALING JAYA: UEM Sunrise Bhd has appointed Azmy Mahbot as its chief business officer, effective June 1, 2025.

In a statement, the property developer said the appointment marks a significant step in the company’s ongoing transformation, underscoring its commitment to strengthening its leadership bench, enhancing execution capabilities and delivering long-term value to shareholders.

“Azmy assumes a key leadership role in driving UEM Sunrise’s long-term growth strategy, overseeing high-impact portfolios such as business development, joint venture management, strategic land, corporate strategy and sustainability.”

Prior to this, Azmy served as head of financial controller for UEM Sunrise, where he was instrumental in enhancing financial discipline and driving enterprise-wide improvements.

“In his new role, he will focus on unlocking new growth opportunities across the company’s landbank, partnership and business development ecosystems,” said UEM Sunrise.

The company added that Azmy brings with him more than 25 years of experience in corporate finance, investor relations and strategic planning.

“Over the years, he has played a pivotal role in several of UEM Sunrise’s key milestones including the listing of UEM Land Holdings Bhd on Bursa Malaysia in 2008, the landmark merger with Sunrise Bhd in 2011, and the formation of strategic joint ventures such as Horizon Hills with Gamuda Land and Nusajaya Tech Park with CapitaLand.
