NEW YORK: Crop scouts on the first day of the Wheat Quality Council’s annual three-day tour of Kansas projected a higher yield than last year for hard red winter wheat in the state’s north.

The average yield for hard red winter wheat found in a survey of 196 fields between Manhattan, Kansas, and Colby was estimated at 50.5 bushels per acre (bpa), tour scouts said.
