PETALING JAYA: KK Supermart & Superstore Sdn Bhd (KK Super Mart) remains committed to corporate and social responsibility (CSR) initiatives as it continues to explore new opportunities that positively impact social relationships.
This year, the group took the initiative to raise awareness and encourage public support for individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease via the unveiling of the premier KK Super Mart’s Raya Campaign video, titled “Kesetiaan Kasih Mama”.
The premier was in conjunction with the hosting of an iftar event with media partners and KK Super Mart associates at the President’s Hall, Subang National Golf Club, yesterday.
KK Super Mart founder and executive chairman Datuk Seri KK Chai said it is only right for corporate entities such as themselves to extend support to those in need.
He then emphasised the group’s commitment to collaborating with the Alzheimer’s Disease Foundation Malaysia (ADFM) and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) to promote awareness of the condition.
“We at KK Super Mart believe every small initiative that is carried out can directly create a great impact on the community and the country.
“At KK Super Mart we are always open for cooperation for the betterment of the community,” he said during his speech.
Chai also announced that the group will be allocating an additional RM100,000 towards this campaign, of which the group plans to transform several KK Super Mart outlets into dementia-friendly spaces where ADFM can provide tailored guidance on meeting the needs of individuals living with dementia.
Additionally, the company will collaborate with UKM’s Healthy Ageing and Wellness Research Centre (H-Care) to facilitate research by supporting financial needs for students and faculty conducting studies both on and off-campus.
Other initiatives include home visits to families of patients, providing essential supplies, organising awareness talks and more.
The event was graced by the attendance of ADHM executive committee and former Inland Revenue Board director-general Tan Sri Hasmah Abdullah, along with members of ADFM board of trustees.
“Malaysia is heading towards an ageing society, and this number is expected to triple by 2050.
“Dementia is a great concern and in helping the dementia community and creating public awareness on dementia, the government through the Health Ministry has launched the National Dementia Action Plan 2023-2030.
“We are heartened to learn that KK Super Mart is playing a part in raising awareness of dementia,” she said.
Also present were UKM’s H-Care Centre associate professor Dr Arimi Fitri and UKM student affairs director professor Ts Dr Norinsan Kamil Othman.
KK Super Mart currently has 942 outlets nationwide and aims to continue to be a trusted local brand offering 24-hour convenience tailored to customer needs.
The group will enter into a new market in the northern region as it plans to launch its first ever KK Super Mart outlet in Sungai Petani, Kedah, on March 29.
