PETALING JAYA: OCBC Bank Malaysia Bhd has officially opened its flagship Premier Private Client Centre on Jalan Ara, Bangsar Baru, marking a significant milestone in its wealth management strategy.

The 18,000 sq ft facility, the first of its kind outside Singapore, is designed to cater to high networth individuals with assets under management of at least RM3mil.

The launch of the centre underscores OCBC Bank’s commitment to redefining wealth management experience, blending innovative financial solutions with bespoke lifestyle offerings.

At the official opening ceremony yesterday, OCBC Bank chief executive officer Tan Chor Sen outlined the centre’s three-pillar strategy, which aims to deliver a “beyond banking” experience.

“Our Premier Private Client services operate within OCBC’s ‘One Group’ framework, enabling us to provide integrated solutions that go beyond traditional banking,” said Tan.

He added that the centre is thoughtfully designed to spark inspiration, offering a harmonious environment for discussions. They will also have curated dining experiences and exclusive events that resonate with their clients’ aspirations.

The centre features discreet entry and exit points, ensuring privacy for clients during discussions with their client advisors. It also boasts a fully functional on-site kitchen, providing local cuisine during meetings, and a service team comprising former airline crew members to maintain a high standard of professionalism.

Exclusive offerings

The centre will host by-invitation-only events, including private tastings, art showcases and expert-led viewings, aimed at enhancing clients’ wealth management journeys.

These initiatives reflect OCBC’s focus on creating a vibrant platform for discussions and collaborations.

“We aim to transform the traditional banking experience into something truly exceptional,” Tan pointed out.

“Our concept of ‘beyond banking’ is designed to create greater wealth opportunities for high-net-worth clients who seek experiences that extend beyond the norm.”

He further elaborated on the bank’s ambitions, citing that they aim to double their Premier Private Client base in the next five years.

“Malaysia is a hub for wealth creation, and this centre represents our commitment to serving the evolving needs of high-net-worth individuals.

“This investment signals our belief in the long-term growth of this market. We are not just a bank. We are a trusted partner in our clients’ financial journeys,” he added.

In his opening remarks, OCBC Bank chairman George Lee emphasised the centre’s significance within the group’s broader strategy.

“This is a major milestone for the OCBC Group, as it is our second Premier Private Client Centre after Singapore and our largest branch in Malaysia.

“We have curated this centre to better serve our premier private banking customers, offering them a unique blend of financial expertise and lifestyle experiences,” said Lee.

He also highlighted the centre’s full-service offerings, including 24-hour ATM access, safe deposit boxes and electric vehicle charging bays.

“We invite our clients to enjoy this bespoke facility, where they can engage with their investment advisors in a setting that combines nature-inspired design with unparalleled service,” he added.

Communications Minister and Lembah Pantai MP Fahmi Fadzil, who officiated the event, praised OCBC’s investment in the community.

“Bangsar is a vibrant metropolitan area that attracts people from all walks of life.

“This centre not only enhances the neighbourhood but also provides an opportunity for OCBC to engage with the community and contribute to its growth,” said Fahmi.

He encouraged the bank to foster deeper ties with local residents, noting that physical presence should be complemented by social integration.

“I hope OCBC will continue to look at ways to be an integral part of this community,” he said.
