Datasonic unit secures 12-month extension to passport chip supply contract


KUALA LUMPUR: Datasonic Group Bhd's wholly-owned subsidiary Datasonic Technologies Sdn Bhd has received a 12-month extension to its contract to supply Malaysian passport chips to the Immigration Department, it said in a bourse filing today.

The contract extension granted by the Ministry of Home Affairs runs for the period of Dec 1, 2024, to Nov 30, 2025, and comes with an additional value of RM104.78mil.

This serves as the company's fifth contract extension, having first secured the award on Dec 15, 2015.

With the recent extension, the change in contract ceiling value comes to a total of RM616.71mil.

Under the terms of the letter of extension, Datasonic is required to furnish a new performance bond or an additional performance bond for the amount of RM3,426,160.46 or RM238,660.46 respectively to KDN with extended validity period until Nov 30, 2026.
