U Mobile to accelerate store expansions nationwide

SUBANG JAYA: U Mobile Sdn Bhd, Malaysia's second 5G network operator, plans to double its number of stores nationwide within the next two years.

Chief marketing officer, Navin Manian said the company currently has 14 stores nationwide, including two flagship outlets.

"We want to establish a good retail footprint across Malaysia, including in the East Coast, so we will be opening more stores," he told a press conference after launching the company’s latest flagship store in Sunway Pyramid, here today.

The Sunway Pyramid outlet, the company’s second flagship store and its largest to-date, builds on the success of the first flagship store in Berjaya Times Square, Kuala Lumpur.

Navin said the company’s latest flagship outlet spans more than 3,500 square feet, offering immersive retail experiences with next-gen technologies like 5G, artificial intelligence (AI), digital price tags, and AI-powered closed-circuit televisions (CCTVs) with smart security.

It also features Malaysia’s first in-store immersive dome, featuring high-quality video, audio, virtual reality, augmented reality, and mixed reality experiences for visitors.

"We want to add a lot of technology elements to the retail store, so it's not going to be the same all the time. We try to keep improving and changing so the customers remain engaged," he added. - Bernama
