Shamsul Azri is new EC chairman

PETALING JAYA: The Energy Commission (EC) has appointed Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, 55, as its new chairman, effective Jan 1, 2025.

In a statement on its website, the EC highlighted Shamsul Azri’s extensive experience of over 30 years in the public service, having served in various agencies including the Finance Ministry, Department of Public Service, Unit Public Private Partnership and State Government Administration.

“The EC welcomes the leadership of Shamsul Azri to bring the commission to a higher level.”

Shamsul Azri, who currently serves as chief secretary to the government, succeeds Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali following the expiration of his two-year contract.
