MYMBN faces temporary suspension of bird’s nest exports to China

KUALA LUMPUR: Bird's nest processor Mymbn Bhd faces temporary suspension of bird’s nest exports to China, effective Dec 25, 2024.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, MYMBN announced that it received a notice from the Department of Veterinary Services (DVS) in Malaysia regarding the temporary suspension of bird’s nest exports to China.

The suspension follows the reporting of Newcastle Disease Virus in Malaysia to the World Organisation for Animal Health.

“This suspension applies to the whole industry for both raw-cleaned edible bird's nest and raw-uncleaned edible bird's nest products,” MYMBN said.

“The board acknowledges the potential financial impact of this situation on the company’s performance and is proactively implementing measures to mitigate any adverse effects,” it added.

These measures include redistributing the sales focus to existing alternative export markets, such as Vietnam, as well as to the local market.

Additionally, MYMBN is engaging with relevant authorities to monitor developments and expedite the resumption of exports. Operational strategies are also being adjusted to manage inventory and ensure business continuity during this period.
