Fire outbreak at Homeritz unit's factory in Muar

KUALA LUMPUR: Homeritz Corp Bhd has reported a fire incident at the premises of its wholly-owned subsidiary, Embrace Industries Sdn Bhd, in Muar, Johor.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, it said the incident affected one of the spraying lines and inventory work-in-progress, with damages restricted to one block of furniture factory building.

It said other production facilities and factory buildings were not affected and production activities were running as normal.

The company said it will ascertain the actual extent and quantum of the losses caused by the incident.

"The financial impact of this incident is still being assessed and not immediately available. The Board will make the necessary announcement, for any further development, if required," it said.

The company said it will mitigate the production disruption arising from the incident by using a spraying line in another factory building, which is located in the same district as the affected factory building, to compensate for the loss in capacity.
