Knee-deep in flood woes with slow progress of projects


Malaysia simply cannot afford delays in infrastructure aimed at protecting its citizens from natural disasters.

MALAYSIA’S flood mitigation efforts are too slow to adequately protect the vulnerable East Coast regions. Only one out of 26 projects to reduce flood risks has been completed, according to Energy Transition and Water Transformation Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.

With states like Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang being flood-prone, the slow pace of these projects raises serious questions about priorities and efficiency.
