Khazanah appoints Hisham Hamdan as CIO


PETALING JAYA: Khazanah Nasional Bhd has appointed Datuk Hisham Hamdan as its new chief investment officer (CIO), from March 6.

In a statement, the sovereign wealth fund said Hisham’s appointment allows for greater focus on building Khazanah’s capabilities as an investment institution and creating new capacity and competencies, especially to meet the company’s value creation and impact goals.

Hisham joined Khazanah in April 2011 from Sime Darby Bhd. He has held various senior positions, including executive director of Public Markets and other senior roles in strategy and business development, healthcare, energy and utilities and China.

Hisham also serves as the chairman of UEM Sunrise and the board of Trustees of the Khazanah Research Institute. Previously, he held the position of chairman of UDA Holdings Bhd, was a member of the board of directors of Iskandar Investments Bhd and a member of the Board of ValueCap.
