Berjaya Land, MRCB, IJM shares up on KL-Singapore HSR bidding exercise


KUALA LUMPUR: Berjaya Land Bhd (BLand), IJM Construction Sdn Bhd and Malaysian Resources Corporation Bhd (MRCB) shares on Bursa Malaysia went up in early session today on an announcement of a consortium with Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd (KTMB).

As at 10.12 am, BLand and MRCB, which emerged among the most actively traded counters, earned half-a-sen each to 46 sen and 65.5 sen with 28.33 million and 39.54 million shares changing hands respectively, while IJM added 1.0 sen to RM2.24 with 2.23 million shares transacted.

On Friday, BLand announced that its 70 per cent owned subsidiary, Berjaya Rail Sdn Bhd, has formed a consortium with IJM Construction, MRCB and KTMB to bid for the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore high-speed rail (KL-SG HSR) project.

In filings with Bursa Malaysia, the consortium members said they had submitted the concept proposal for the HSR request for information (RFI) on Jan 15, 2024.

MRCB said the parties will enter into a definitive agreement in the event the consortium is successful in securing the project. - Bernama
