PNB appoints Raja Arshad as group chairman


PETALING JAYA: Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB) has appointed Raja Tan Sri Arshad Raja Tun Uda as group chairman effective June 1, 2023.

Raja Arshad is currently the chairman of Ekuiti Nasional Bhd, Icon Offshore Bhd and Bumi Armada Bhd, and brings extensive experience in the stewardship of companies and institutions.

He has been actively associated with charity organisations such as Yayasan Raja Muda Selangor and Yayasan Amir and is currently the chancellor of University Selangor.

He has also served on the boards of companies like Maxis Bhd and Khazanah Nasional Bhd, as well as being a former executive chairman of PricewaterhouseCoopers International Ltd (PwC) Malaysia and chairman of the leadership team of PwC Asia 7.

He served as a member of the Securities Commission when it was first established. He was also a member of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission and the Investment Panel of the Employees Provident Fund.

During the Asian financial crisis of 1997, Raja Arshad was appointed chairman of Danamodal Nasional Bhd, one of three special-purpose vehicles set up by the government to manage the crisis.
