Trading ideas: Boustead, S P Setia, Perdana Petroleum, Guocoland, Kobay


KUALA LUMPUR: Boustead Holdings Bhd, S P Setia Bhd, Perdana Petroleum Bhd, GuocoLand (M) Bhd, Kobay Technology Bhd, Volcano Bhd, OSK Ventures International Bhd, Edelteq Holdings Bhd and MI Technovation Bhd are among the stocks to watch today, according to Apex Securities.

Lembaga Tabung Angkatan Tentera has accumulated over 90% shares of Boustead, a threshold that paves the way for its privatisation of the company.

S P Setia’s 1Q23 net profit dropped 17.85% to RM55.45mil.

Perdana Petroleum’s 1Q23 net loss narrowed to RM8.26mil while GuocoLand’s 3QFY23 net profit rose 29.42% to RM8.71mil.

Kobay’s 3QFY23 net profit plunged 47.6% to RM7.92mil, Volcano’s 1Q23 net profit fell 72% to RM550,000 and OSK Ventures International Bhd’s 1Q23 net profit shrank 52% to RM4.3mil.

ACE Market-bound Edelteq’s CEO and largest shareholder is being sued by his former employer Mi Technovation Bhd for allegedly breaching employment contracts and abuse of legal process.

Bahvest Resources Bhd said the MACC raided the goldmine and business premises in Tawau, Sabah.

Overnight, the US market rallied following optimism over debt ceiling talks. Earlier, European markets ended mixed as investors monitor progress of the US’ debt ceiling negotiations.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped 408.63 points or 1.24% to 33,420.77, while the Nasdaq spiked 157.51 points or 1.28% to 12,500.57 and S&P 500 rose 1.19% to 4,158.77.

“Following the positive performance in Wall Street, the FBM KLCI could retest its resistance of 1,431 points,” Apex said.
