KUALA LUMPUR: Maxis Bhd has opened the Maxis Business Innovation Centre (MBIC), a "digital immersive space to foster innovation and drive digital transformation for businesses.”

Located on the ground floor of Menara Maxis, MBIC spans over 9,000 square feet where customers can access an Internet of Things (IoT) lab, auditorium with state-of-the-art audiovisual technology, and co-sharing workspace to collaborate and innovate.

"The centre will provide an opportunity for businesses of all sizes and across industries to harness the power of digital technology," it said in a statement today.

The MBIC was officiated by Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil.

"My ministry has been given the task to drive the digital economy forward in Malaysia as part of

our strategic framework and this requires all stakeholders to play their role through collaboration, innovation and knowledge sharing,” Fahmi said in the same statement.

Meanwhile, Maxis SME head Kevin Lee said the company has been working very closely with the government to help local small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to digitalise their businesses.

"Over the last few years, we have enabled more than 27,000 SMEs to start their digitalisation journey through our partnership with the government," he told the media in conjunction with the opening ceremony.

Acting chief enterprise business officer Claire Featherstone said Maxis has seen a steady increase in its customer base over the past few years.

"We have 90,000 customers that are in the public domain Maxis’ business customers, and we are seeing the number steadily grow quarter-on-quarter,” she said. - Bernama
