G20 chair sees positive signs from China

NEW DELHI: China is sending encouraging signals about breaking a deadlock among global creditors over how to manage poor-country debt distress, according to an Indian official helping to lead Group of 20 (G20) efforts to resolve the crisis.

“We see a positive sign in their engagement, and therefore they’re also committing themselves to resolve this,” Nirmala Sitharaman, finance minister of India, which is this year’s chair of the G20, said in an interview last Saturday with Bloomberg Television.
