KUALA LUMPUR: Affin Bank Bhd
has appointed Datuk Paduka Syed Mashafuddin Syed Badarudin as the new chief executive officer of Affin Islamic Bank.
His appointment will take effect on Nov 8, 2022.
Syed Mashafuddin was previously the CEO of Principal Islamic Asset Management and Group Islamic Business and has a 25-year of experience in the financial sector, having started his career in the corporate finance department of Commerce International Merchant Bankers Bhd back in 1997.
He holds a Joint Honours degree in Computer Science and Accounting (B.Sc.
Honours) from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom and a Master of Science degree (MSc) in International Banking from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST), United Kingdom. He is also a CFA Charter holder.
“Syed brings with him a wealth of experience, especially in the areas of corporate banking and Islamic finance and this will put him in a great position to drive Affin Islamic’s operations and business moving forward.
“I have no doubt he will bring a fresh perspective to lead Affin Islamic as we embark on our A25 strategic plan and continue with our mission to provide unrivalled customer experience and digital leadership,” Affin Bank president and group chief executive officer Datuk Wan Razly Abdullah said in a statement.
