Puncak Niaga inks RM44mil healthcare deal

SHAH ALAM: Puncak Niaga Holdings Bhd’s wholly-owned subsidiary TRIplc Medical Sdn Bhd (TMSB) has inked a RM44.14mil deal to supply additional medical equipment for Hospital UiTM Puncak Alam Campus, Selangor.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia yesterday, Puncak Niaga said TMSB has been appointed by Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Shah Alam as the contractor to manage, undertake and complete the supply of additional medical equipment as required by the hospital for 40 months from July 1, 2022 to Oct 31, 2025.Puncak Niaga is a leading regional integrated water, wastewater and environmental solutions provider with involvement in environmental engineering and construction, concession and facilities management services and plantation sectors.

The supply deal is expected to contribute to the earnings and net assets per share, or gearing of the group for the financial years ending Dec 31 until the expiry of the agreement.

For its second quarter ended June 30, 2022 (2Q22), the group’s net loss widened to RM5.3mil compared to RM4.2mil a year earlier while revenue dropped 21.6% to RM51.5mil, mainly due to lower revenue contribution from its construction segment.

Net loss per share for 2Q22 was 1.18 sen versus 0.94 sen a year earlier.

For its first half (1H22), net loss widened to RM6.86mil compared with RM3.03mil a year earlier while revenue dropped 50% to RM108.4mil, mainly due to lower revenue contribution from its construction and concession segments.

Net loss per share for 1H22 was 1.53 sen versus 0.68 sen a year earlier.

On its prospects, Puncak Niaga said its construction segment would continue to be prudent and cautious in order to maintain profitability from its existing projects while continuing to pursue and secure other utilities and infrastructure projects.

On its plantation segment, the group expects the crude palm oil (CPO) prices in the second half of 2022 to be lower than in the first half due to seasonal uptrend of CPO production.
