Mitigating the rising cost of food

THE government has taken additional measures to mitigate the increase in food prices in the country, given it is the largest weighted category in the consumer price index and has an outsized impact on the lower income groups.

According to the Economic Outlook 2023 report, the rising price of food is the main contributing factor to Malaysia's higher inflation, from 2.2% in March 2022 to 4.7% in August 2022.
