ASM 2 Wawasan declares RM882.49mil income distribution

KUALA LUMPUR: Amanah Saham Nasional Bhd (ASNB), the wholly-owned unit trust company of Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB), has declared an income distribution of RM882.49mil for Amanah Saham Malaysia 2 - Wawasan (ASM 2 Wawasan) for the financial year ended Aug 31, 2022.

PNB, in a statement, said the total income distribution payout would benefit 906,645 unit holders.

As of Aug 25, the fund earned a total gross income of RM1.05bil and recorded a net realised income of RM725.10mil.

PNB said the income for ASM 2 Wawasan was derived from realised gains, dividends, as well as other income from domestic and international investments.

“Income from equities remains a major contributor as international and domestic investment contributed 37.3% and 36.0% respectively to the fund’s gross income.

“The fund has also benefitted from the diversification of the portfolios which has continued to yield positive results, with the allocation of international investment increased up to 17.8% as compared to 14.9% in 2020,” it said.

The income distribution of ASM 2 Wawasan is equivalent to total return of 3.75%, above its benchmark Maybank 12-Month fixed deposit which stood at 1.98% by 177 basis points for the financial year to date up to Aug 30.

During the same period, FBM KLCI declined by 5.46%, from 1,601.38 at the closing of Aug 31, 2021 to 1,500.29 points on Aug 26.

PNB said the computation of the income distribution for ASM 2 Wawasan is based on the average minimum monthly balance held throughout the financial year of the fund.

The distribution declared by ASM 2 Wawasan will be automatically re-invested as additional units into unit holders’ accounts on Sept 1.

Unitholders can commence transactions on the myASNB portal, through the myASNB mobile application or at any ASNB agent branches nationwide starting Sept 1, 2022.
